The Freezer/Mill® is a programmable cryogenic mill specifically designed for grinding and pulverizing tough or temperature sensitive samples. Samples are placed in a sealed cryogenic grinding vial then immersed in liquid nitrogen (LN). The samples are cooled to cryogenic temperatures then pulverized by magnetically shuttling a steel impactor back and forth against two stationary end plugs. Each Freezer/Mill® cryogenic grinder has an insulated nitrogen tub equipped with an LN sensor. A touch screen control panel controls the grinding cycles, grinding time, impact rate as well as pre-cooling and cooling times.
Since the vial is closed, the cryogenic grinder maintains integrity of its contents, hazardous or critical samples are easily controlled, cleanup is simplified and cross-sample contamination is eliminated.
The new high resolution display of our Freezer/Mill® Cryogenic Grinders is user-friendly and includes the following features:

- Training videos and manuals that can be viewed on the screen.

Cryogenic Grinding Applications include: DNA/RNA or protein extraction from tough tissue samples and yeast cultures, THC extraction, forensic testing, drug testing, RoHS/WEEE and volatiles extraction, contamination testing in pharmaceutical products and packaging following USP method 232.
Typical samples include: Animal tissue, plastic and polymers, yeast cultures, pharmaceuticals, food products, electronic components, textiles, hair, teeth, bones, plant tissue, packaging, patches (e.g. nicotene).
