Transfection Efficiency

Transfection of a cell population typically results in a varying number of cells expressing the desired gene(s) of interest. A common analysis requirement is determining the percentage of cells that are transfected compared to the entire population, often referred to as transfection efficiency. Cytation™ provides intuitive image analysis for automating the assessment of transfection efficiency, as shown below.

Capture: Wells are automatically imaged at 4x to count many cells for statistically relevant data.

Process: Background reduction is automatically applied to each image to facilitate analysis.

Analyze: Ratio of cells expressing reporter construct (fuchsia mask) to non-transfected cells (yellow mask) is automatically calculated.

Publish: Quantitative determination of transfection efficiency as a function of virus titer.
